ot;Vecchia Firenze" (Old Florence) is a name particulary suited for a restaurant whose locations is linked to famous aspects of Florentine history. The building was built in the fourteenth century and was the home of three families: the Pazzi, the Frescobaldi, and the Albizi. In the late sixteenth century it was subsequently sold to Baccio Valori, who in turn had it restored by the architect Caccini.
The building was then ironically called "dei Visacci" by Vasari because of the many statues in base relief placed on the facade of the building representing illustrious Florentine men. It was also the residence of the Guicciardini, Altoviti and Valori families. According to a widespread popular bolief, the order for the famous Pazzi conspiracy of April 26, 1478, in which Giuliano dei Medici was killed and Lorenzo the Magnificent was gravely wounded, was given in one of the rooms of this restaurant.
Returning to our times, at the beginning of the new millennium, the restaurant was frescoed by the painter Alfio Rapisardi.
The work of the artist, carried out with the ancient techniques used in wull frecoes, gives an oneiric and relaxing dimension to the place. One couldn't ask for a better setting to enjoy il all tranquillity, the menu which the restaurant offers.
